
NEW: FOLKLORE LECTURES IN THE MUSEUM OF THE HUNGARIAN HERITAGE
A rich and diverse Hungarian Folk Art exhibition has been opened in the Museum of the Hungarian Heritage in New Brunswick. The exhibition will be open until February 2010. Connected to this event, folklore lectures will be given during the fall of 2009 autumn. The lectures will present and analyze the cultural background of Hungarian Folk Art: the Folk Culture, the World of Symbols and its Social function.
Subjects of the further lectures:
Folk beliefs, artistic manifestations and symbols
Life of the folk society, customs and celebrations
The lectures will be illustrated with slideshows.
Lecturer: Dr. Gabor Tarjan, doctorate of Humanities, professor of Hungarian University of Fine Art, the College of Craft and Design, ethnographer, folklorist, professional educator and author.
